about

[opus for unprepared piano + e-bow + street life]

4 mic room recordings @ Galleri Koncentrat, Trondheim, Norway, August 2001.

This record is edited from nearly 14 hours of double stereo recordings, fade in/out only, no processing or eq-ing: "Open studio sessions in the kiosk size gallery over several days. Huge window to the street. Recording artist with naked piano leaning against the wall, pushing the e-bow against string by string, working within extreme limits of movement. The naked strings simply let go of their last echoes of all the vibrations, tunes and dis/harmonies. The density of frequencies slowly emerging was overwhelming, creating this very potent acoustic "feedback". Repeatedly performing these 3-7 minute pieces each day as people walked by, cars dubbed the bass, a kindergarten visited and 11 kids went berzerk. Access all areas."

Originally released as a cd by Jazzassin Records, Norway, 2002. Cover by Lasse Marhaug. Listed as KomKol Autoprod cat.no.160.
